The "Kolping Guest Houses" (Hotels, Convention Centers, Vacation Centers, Students' Residences) form part of the multiple activities offered by the
Kolping Society to both its members and any other person or institution. In Latin America, the Kolping Guest Houes have created su own Network the
affiliates of which invite you to enjoy your holidays, your business meetings or your social and corporate events in the special "Kolping atmosphere".
Standig out by comfort, multiple services, security, friendly environment and convenient rates, each of our houses will be an ideal place to stay for all

Adolph Kolping
The origins of the Kolping Society remote to the middle of the XIX century, where during the industrial revolution the German priest Adolph Kolping
founded the first "Catholic Associations for Young Handicraftsmen" in the city of Cologne with the aim to turn the young workers from that social sector
from being victims into active agents of this particular historic process. To the present, the headquarter of the Kolping Society is located in the same
neighbourhood of the Cologne where the institution arose 150 years ago. |

KOLPING INTERNATIONAL
The International Kolping Society is the genuine succoessor to the former "Catholic Associations for Young Handicraftsmen" being a modern catholic social
association whose main goals are focused on the foundation and the sustainment of self-help groups formed by catholic laics. The organization and
execution of social projects is primarily oriented towards sectors of low income, but that are able to help themselves once they have received initial
support. Within its focused group, the association emphasizes on the consistent work with the youth.
Within the Kolping Society we can find non-profit activities, whereas there are other areas mainly based on commercial interests.
The profits of the last, according to the Kolping regulations are destined to finance social work carried out by the association. |

Principals and structure
The ideological and spiritual basis of the Kolping Society is constituted by the Catholic Social Doctrine, divided into five main areas of activities that
– although they can be distinguished from one another- shall not be separated. Only its application as a whole constitutes the genuine “Kolping Identity”.
These areas are the following:
• Faith and Church
• Matrimony and Family
• Labor and Profession
• Politics and Society
• Culture and Recreation
Kolping Groups of self-help, the so called "Kolping Families", can be found in more than 50 countries and have an estimated membership of
more than 500.000 people. On an international level, the institution is democratically organized into autonomous National Federations unified under one
same institutional roof. |

Kolping in Latin America
Since 40 years ago the Kolping Society is present in Latin America. Currently, the association is working in 15 countries: Mexico – Honduras – Nicaragua –
Costa Rica – Dominican Republic – Venezuela – Colombia – Ecuador – Brazil – Paraguay – Peru – Bolivia – Argentina – Chile – Uruguay. We count on
approximately 25.000 members dedicated to all kinds of social work aiming to provide "help for self-help". Among the most important activities that are
carried out, there is professional and labour training, which occur mostly at our own training centers, focussing our attention specially on the youth.
Furthermore, we provide training programmes and financial credits for micro entrepreneurs.
Other characteristic Kolping activities within Latin America concern a considerable number of medical centres, schools and the so-called
"Kolping Guest Houses" related to the tourist and hotel sector, which have their historical origin in the hostels for young handicraftsmen, created in the
XIX century by the founder of the institution himself in many parts of Europe. |
